Today was a really hard decision because water is by far my favorite type and almost all water pokemon are really cool! But, in the end Octillery came out on top. Octillery has been one of my favorite pokemon since the beginning, and is plain awesomeness. He looks so smug and relaxed chillin at the bottom of the ocean or wherever he happens to be. I really just love everything about him!
So today (well, yesterday by 20 minutes), Day Seventeen: Steel Type: Scizor
I originally had scizor for my favorite bug type, but I’ve decided to move him to my favorite steel type due to my recent discovery of shelmet (I did the shelmet artwork today instead, you can check it out here).
But anyway, Scizor!!! What can be cooler than a bug made of steel? Nothing! I have one of these bad boys in my current playthrough of Fire Red named ‘Shrimp.”
Until I redo scizor in hexels, you can enjoy this nice pixel art of scizor that I did before I decided that I was doing all of my pokedexy challenge art in hexels.
I don’t really know why, but I’ve always really loved sentret. Its just a cute little squirrel creature and the best early-game normal type you can find. Its also one of the best 2nd gen pokemon in my opinion.
Day Twelve: (I really have to catch up on drawing these soon): Ice type: Articuno
The majestic ice bird pokemon! Articuno has been one of my favorite pokemon from the beginning. It is by far the best legendary bird and is in a narrow race against suicune for coolest legendary. I’ve spent many hours trying to catch it in my leafgreen. How can you not love articuno?
Flygon is just an all-around awesome pokemon. I’ve always loved dragon types and this is one of my favorites. The ground/dragon combo is awesome. I love the design on his tail and his big bug eyes! I also really like his first evolution, trapinch, the little orange sand chain-chomp bug (maybe I’ll draw him later too). But anyways, you just gotta love flygon.
This is just the hexels sketch I make prior to the actual finished drawing. I’ll probably finish it up tomorrow and post it!
Day Ten, a little late (due to successive blows from swimming, NHS, and homework, I didn’t get the time), but here tis: Grass type: Shroomish
This was another hard decision because there are so many cool grass types, but I finally settled on shroomish. I’ve always like the little mushroom guy with his semi-smug, semi-angry expression. I often caught him in the first forest you go through in my pokemon emerald. I just love shroomish!
I’m usually not a big fan of pokemon that are based off of inanimate objects, but chandelure is a definite exception. Chandelure is just so cool and glowy and fiery and the blank yellow eyes are kind of cute. Its color scheme is really cool too. It’s also one of the best pokemon created in the more recent generations.
I added some glow-effect which i think compliments Chandelure nicely
I’ve always liked charizard, seeing as it was my best pokemon in my first playthrough of my first pokemon game, Leaf Green (One of the two pokemon I’ve ever gotten to level 100). Nothing beats a classic fire dragon. For one of my younger birthday parties, I even got charizard icing on the cake.
Sorry this is a day late because I was at my cousin’s swim meet and didn’t get back until 1 in the morning today so yah. I made this in the car and really like how it turned out.
I also remade salamence with Hexels, you can check it out here.
I’ve always been a fan of the poliwag evolutionary line and poliwrath is just the biggest, most badass, fighting type you can find. (I spent a lot of time choosing between this and breloom)
I’ve also decided to do all of my POKEDEXY challenge work in hexels so that I can all make a nice big group picture at the end. I’ll probs be going through and redoing a couple of the first few so they’re hexel-ified.
